Mrs. Cano's Profile
I was born in Chadron, Nebraska and grew up in a small town in South Dakota. I graduated from Bennett County High School. During high school, I competed in basketball, volleyball, track, and softball. I competed in the State A Track Meet all 4 years. In 1994, we won the State A Volleyball Tournament and in 1995 we were runner-up. Also in 1995 I made the all-tournament basketball team at the Lakota Nation Invitational. My senior year I won the Warriorette Award, which is chosen by the staff at the high school. In order to be eligible, you have to compete in at least 3 sports all 4 years of high school.
After high school, I attended Black Hills State University. While in college, I played volleyball for the Yellow Jackets. In 1997, we were the conference champions. I graduated from Black Hills State University in December of 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Mathematics Education..
After college I taught Physical Education in Spearfish. Now I am entering my seventh year at Sturgis Brown High School teaching Mathematics.
